Honestly it has nothing to do with what kind of transaxle the car has. The SVT Focus shares a shifter with the Cougar, and it has a Getrag transmission. The regular Focus shifters are mostly not compatible with ours.
Cougar short shifter
I have 1999 2.5 V6 Duratec Ford Cougar and i was thinking of throwing in a short shifter. I know the focus has MTX-75 and i found a short shifter for the focus MTX-75. And it got me thinking can it fit into my cougar?
