For reference here is all I can find in the manuals, there is two different numbers with no indication as to where they are or what there relay is.
For reference here is all I can find in the manuals, there is two different numbers with no indication as to where they are or what there relay is.I've finally decided to fix my permanent brake light problem and am wondering where these switches are located (C711 and C409)? Shop manual says to check these circuits and I'm wondering if there in the fuse box?
I was thinking it was actually referring to the physical sensor its self but at the time it didn't seem right for that sensor to plug directly into the instruments so I thought that there was a [and/or] gate or switch somewhere. Getting the fluid level is trivial but the parking brake sensor worries me if its under the car where all the rust is or deep under the interior panels and flooring.I haven't had this issue, so I'm just guessing here...but C409 should be on the parking brake handle or possibly on the cable it pulls (likely under the car). I'm not sure where else it would be to work.
C711 is on or near the master cylinder, if memory serves - I know I've forgotten to hook that back up and had to do it to get the light to go out. It's been quite a while since I had that issue so my memory is hazy. But I don't recall it being hard to find.
The fuse box has relays and fuses, but both of these are talking about the actual switch that triggers the light - and that switch has to be located at the thing it's measuring. Those diagrams are telling you to disconnect the connector to the switch.
It would be comical if unplugging two small sensors fixes what has kept this light on for the last 20 years from three different owners...The brake switch is under the center console, the fluid level switch is on the reservoir.
parking brake sensor is in the cabin. You have to remove the center console, but it's right there on the base of the parking brake handle.Getting the fluid level is trivial but the parking brake sensor worries me if its under the car where all the rust is or deep under the interior panels and flooring.
Cant do the console today because I need to drive it but the fluid level doesn't seem to be the problem when I unplugged it and surprisingly the brake fluid looks clean.parking brake sensor is in the cabin. Got most of the screws off, It really is easy but.. the hex screw on the automatic shifter bezel doesn't do anything. Hence I cant remove the panel over the shifter rod.The center console is surprisingly easy to pull up. If you have ten minutes, you can probably get it done and put back together.
You could probably even see it by just pulling out the brake handle boot. You might not be able to reach it effectively, but if there's anything obviously wrong, you might see it.
Every day I'm more tempted to go manual. But thanks for the input.Sorry, I forgot ATX's exist. Can't help you with that.
