If there is one, will you trade in your current Cougar?
I am not sure if I would. Depending on the body, but it would mean more HP engine parts. We can always wish for something. I remember wishing that the Visteon scoop and wing were easy to get, or be care of what you wish for.....

I don't think I will buy another front-wheel drive car.
G
In 2003 there will be at least 4 cars out that will be so much better than any garbage ford can slap together, so no. I'm not getting another Ford ever
Gee Dave, Thanks for your opinion. I am sure you will be happy driving some other POS.
G
Meeeeeowwwwww! Hisssssssssssssss! Retract those claws, Dave! Oh, and I don't think my Cougar is a Supra! It's a fine automobile with style and class even with out Bastardizing, I mean mods!

If you didn't want my opinion, why'd you ask a question that can only be answered in opinion form? Durrr...
You: "If they make a Hipo cougar in 2002/03, would you trade in your cougar?"
Me: "No I wouldn't, because in 2003 there will be at least 4 cars that are better than it. I don't want another ford car"
I didn't even add an editorializing about the quality of the mondeo/cougar/contour/mystique platform.... check out the contour board to see how many problems the 96-97 guys are having with fractured springs and worn wheel bearings. Some of the SVTs suffer from oil starvation on right hand turns. What kind of garbage is THAT?

Cougr8, I don't even SAY you think your car is a supra! My tagline is for all those knobs that ask stupid questions like "how can I chirp the tires going from 3rd to 4th in my 170 hp FRONT WHEEL DRIVE car!" and "I beat a SVT Mustang Cobra because I hollowed out my cat, d00dz!" Those kinds of examples of stupid boy-racer mentality are really beginning to grate on me.

I WILL be happy when I'm driving some other POS, like a Nissan Sentra Spec V, Lancer Evo7 or Impreza WRX STi, thanks.

How much do you think a high powered cougar would be? The regular version is already near what the Sentra Spec V is going to cost, so who's going to buy a slower car at a higher price just because it looks nice? I'm not making that mistake again.
G
Nope. One Cougar is enough for me. I have no complaints against the Cougar. It's a great car. Great styling. I have no problems whatsoever with it. Unless Ford makes the next Cougar 250hp or more, I might reconsider getting one.

I wouldn't mind getting the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII if they bring it to the U.S.
well you'll buy a high hp car but you'll never get to show it off... i bought the cougar not for it's power but for it's amazing styling... there is no other car like it
G
Why wouldn't I get to show a high powered car off? There's lots of 2000+ Mustang GTs and Firebirds running around...
but they also have styling... some of these other hi-po cars look butt ugly and well tons o power or not i won't drive an ugly car

Ah, I see. for example: lots of people may not like the WRX, but the ProDrive bodykit the WRC WRX has is pretty fricking cool (IMHO). It makes it look like a space car

"Nissan Sentra Spec V, Lancer Evo7 or Impreza WRX STi" any of these cars can have just as many problems. With mass production cars, you run the luck of the draw. I have had no problems with my Cougar so far. Knock on wood. You generalize a lot!! You could have said no, I there are 4 other cars I would prefer to buy than another Cougar. Remember that these boards only represent a portion of these model car owners, and ones that have mods and are typically driven hard. I am sure there are more Cougar and Contour owners than these two boards combined that do not drive their cars hard or mod them and have little to no problems. I am like PuckPuck. I bought mine for the styling and handling and I am very happy with the horse power but would enjoy more. If there was a 2002/2003 Wings west style Cougar with 200 or 200+ HP, I would seriously consider a trade in. I am quite happy with my Cougar. I have friends that have had problems with Nissan's, and I have never heard of the other two, unless the Impreza is a Chevy. If that is the case, just look at the problems on Corvette boards!! Anyhow, I was asking weather you would trade yours in for a HP Cougar and didn't expect the Ford bashing. Hopefully you will get lucky and not get a reject...

gunmetal: exatly.... although i find that this summer you will see complete body kits icluding full front bumper and fog light replacemtn for the WRX... when i see it i'll start creaming cause i'm gonna prolly want it.... but alas i have so much time in my cougar that i wouldn't think twice about keeping it
G
Ah, that's just me editorializing my comments... And also my way of saying why (sort of) I wouldn't want a High powered cougar. I'm also not happy about the resale value for cougars, but that's a combination of my fault for driving it so hard and adding "extras" and Ford discontinuing the contique line (which I'm not blaming them for)
No hassle chief, I shouldn't have gotten so put off. I think are cars will increase in value a few years down the line or at least I hope. Hard to tell since we don't know what Ford is really going to do...

Too bad they're just souped up appliance cars, and they will look and feel the part.

Something daring to something typical-bland-japanese... whoooooooopie
G
Take no offense Dave! You just sounded a little bitter about the whole Ford name! And I just wanted to clarify that I am not someone who is disillusioned about my car being a nice looking but not too fast car w/ a few mods! So I should have said "I don't think my car is a Supra, but it's not a Yugo either!"
And if you know of 4 other cars you would rather have and can afford then go for it!

Uh... okay. While I somewhat agree with that applied to the Sentra, the Evo7 is pretty radically different from the standard Lancer since it has a Turbo and AWD. Can you imagine if Honda came out with a Turbocharged, All-wheel drive Civic (the standard lancer being Mitsubishi's 'everyman' car everywhere except the states)?
And both the Evo and WRX are built to have the hell driven out of them and constantly receive the highest praise from not only American but also British and Japanese car magazines. Is the Integra Type-R bland and Japanese? Not from a performance and handling aspect, anyway. The Contour SVT is just a souped up grocery-getting Contour - is IT bland and uninteresting?
My fiancee is going to sell her 1968 Mustang, and use that money to put a down on a new Spec V when they come out...I on the other hand am going to spend about another $2000 on getting my cylinder heads worked on and possibly larger injectors (maybe dyno tuning as well) and should be close to 250HP (crank) if PuckPuck is right about the expected gains from head work on our 2.5's.... I still think the Cougar is a great car and the Duratec a great engine...do 4 simple mods (KKM, MSDS, Exhaust of your choice, and cylinder head work) for around $3500 and you could be close to 250 Crank HP.....this is of course speculation (PuckPuck) cuz no one has done cylinder head work on our cars yet....but I am at 200HP with just I/H/E mods.....
