All you 2.0L ZETEC warlords out there, I'm getting ready to start up "the project to end all projects." Over the next six months, I plan to get 350+ HP at the wheels from my ZETEC. It all starts this month with the block build up and ends with the custom turbo install in the spring. Would anyone be interested in seeing step-by-step photos & videos, me putting together a web site about it, etc., so you could follow along? I'm sure I'll be coming here for help from time to time during the project, so I'd like to give you folks a window to look in and see how it's going.

Any thoughts?

So here's my first question: who makes/where can I get some high-quality aftermarket head/cylinder gaskets (and any other gaskets) for my 2.0L ZETEC? Something that will take the higher pressures and power I plan to be putting out? Those are the only part I'm lacking to start the teardown/rebuild.

Hi... as I told you, Stoffler will probably help you in this case. He is doing all the stuff himself, he can probably give some advise or even produce some header for you. I have a Stoffler header.

If you're looking into internals....check with B.A.T. Focus Section

As for the mystical stoffler header....unless he's looking to spend some cash, i dont see the practicality of buying that header and getting it shipped. I'd love to have one personally....but the price is toooo high.

Hopefully some day those headers that were being made, will actually be made :hitit:

i had a dream the other night ab out winning the lottery, and fully pimping out my cougar to the fullest, but keeping my zetec in it for some reason. sounds kinda like what your doing, but without winning the lottery, and with it being in real life!

the funny part is, that it sounds like im trying to say that it will be like too expensive and you wont end up doing it, but im not saying that. im serious. i did have a dream about it lol.

and i would definatly follow along with the site if it was made, or buy a book if it was made! good luck!

Well, the Stoffler 2L ZETEC Header for the COugar is no big deal. I have one installed. But in case Adam needs something special, Mr. Stoffler can probably give some hints or even help there.

Oh my, I love the 2.0 forums. You are all so nice. A guy with low posts comes in and makes a grand statement and is applauded for it and encouraged....this is how NECO should be. If all the forums had this attitude NECO would be a much better place!

Good Luck Man!!! (Leo Capaldi Jr. Anyone?)

Turbo Tom, makes custom head gaskets though he says the stock gasket can take up to 300whp easy. I don't think the Focus gasket and ours is the same but I'm sure he could do it, just not sure how much it would cost.

He's putting out 430whp but he uses 100octane gas all the time. But 350whp would be doable, IMHO, on 91-93 with proper management, pistons, cams, head job, the works.

Won't be cheap. Good luck, and keep us informed.

remember that our zetec can only hold 315 max hp befor she cracks a block you have to sleave the block. so the pistons
stay stright and in the block not on the road.

I don't know about that 315 max hp, where you get that? Turbo Tom was pushing 300whp on the stock Focus block with 100 oct. When he built up the internals, he was pushing over 315 on street gas, and over 400 on race gas.

The stock "block" won't give, but the stock rods probably will.

This is all good stuff - just the kind of debate that'll help me make some wise purchases.

I found a good rod & piston kit from Gude and I'm trying to find out if there will be any fitment issues there. A port/polish built head with new cams will be from Esslinger, and it is Cougar IL4 specific, so I KNOW it will work. The turbo is the next investment, but I have a finance issue that will delay that purchase for a few weeks (sorry T.J.). As I install parts, I'll be posting pictures, video and info on my website. Look for the link to be posted here around this time tomorrow. We'll start with intake, exhaust and wheels, move on to suspension, and go from there. I can also backtrack my stereo install - it's not much, but it's kinda interesting.

A step by step would be great

BTW some of you said about a book...you might want to check out High-Performance Ford Focus, it's $20 at Barnes and Noble,
it gives a comparison of different parts and includes alot of dyno graphs that could be helpful...
