Misfires will cause rich conditions. Start there.

The Duratec naturally has a weird little “bump” in the power band right at 3500-4000 when the IMRC switches over, but if it doesn’t continue to pull all the way to 6750 then it might not be opening.

Autolite or Motorcraft double platinum plugs - no substitutes.

Stock wires are best. Don’t cheap out and don’t try anything fancy.

I think I have NGK wires on mine, too. The last time I had ignition problems was when I installed a set of Ford Racing wires. Hot garbage.

I used E3 plugs for a while, but anything that isn't double-platinum can't stand up to the Duratec's waste-spark system, and will fail early.
