I posted this to the How To Forum section but am in dire need of some help in getting this done. Thanks:

Good day folks. I finally was able to remove the old starter late one evening. Than a couple of days later tried to install the new one and again this SOB is giving me a hard time. What am I missing because I can't get that unit back in. Is there a secret to getting that piece back in/ I've loosened the shift linkage and still get it back in. So what's the secret to getting it back in/ What the hell am I missing? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks so much

Assuming it's the correct part (post a pic) you just gotta make sure all the wires/vac lines are pushed out of the way, carefully. It's one of those things that needs to be at just the exact angle because a lot of stuff runs around it. If you have a paint stirrer stick you can come straight down from the top and keep things at bay while you work it in.

Thanks so much, I'll give it another try.
