Post New member from Belgium

Hi all,

Just saying hi as so many before me.
Since about a month I am a proud owner of a 1999 Cougar V6.
Unfortunately I soon noticed that the car wasn't performing as it should so I started googling and ended up on this site.
I have error P1519, so the IMRC is stuck on closed position.
I tried a fix on this site ( stick the engine tight using glue) but so far that hasn't helped, neither did spraying some WD40 oil on the mechanism.
On Dyno runs I only get 144 hp and 192nm which is very noticable.
How much would a new imrc module cost me?

At the weels yes, but this Dyno run compensated for drive train loss ( which was also measured) and at the revs the irmc should open the extra valves there were brief power drops...
I fear I'll have to leave it to the garage to fix this. Anyway, out of scope for this forum category.

Re: New member from Belgium

replacing your IRMC isn't too difficult. I'm pretty sure a guide is somewhere around here. As far as the part cost, in the United States I've seen 'em for around $60. In your case, it may be a bit more difficult to find one. Try local junk yards and such.

IMRC is a common problem that has been dealt with many times.
one thing you can do is to clean the IMRC, then if you are electronically inclined, you can try to replace the chip yourself. (heat fries them).
And then, if all else fails, you can replace the IMRC yourself. Not very hard to do.

good luck and welcome!

post some pics of your ride.
