Hello From Virginia

I just bought a 99 Cougar with 153 K on it for $2100. I think it was a pretty good deal. Nevertheless, this is my first car so I'm pretty stoked.

If anyone has any pertinent information to share I'd love to hear it!

Re: Hello From Virginia

I'm in Virginia Beach. There are so many things I want to do this car but I'm hesitant because of the whole first car deal. Are these cars pretty solid?

it really depends on how the previous owner took care of the car.
im the original owner of a 99 and it just turned 9 this month. During that time, only thing i had to replace were the alternator (weak design plus horrible location which causes premature death.), sunroof, (design flaw) starter (weak) and my clutch (normal wear and tear).
i pretty much babied it during that time and it has been great car so far... (better than my Prelude, which i had to replace the engine after 2 years.)

NOVA here. Both my cougars have been good to me. Things here and there but to be expected with a high mileage ford.

Re: Hello From Virginia

I was wondering, how difficult is an engine swap? I can't really tell from what's been posted in the 3.0 L forum.

Re: Hello From Virginia

Well unless you have the experience and the knowledge to do so I wouldn't recommend it as something to attempt on your own. If your looking for better performance and want to get started on modding your engine then check out the 2.5L DURATEC Performance - NECO Forums. There are plenty of options in there to add performance.

other then that welcome to the forums
