new member intro
Hi all!
![]() Well i have been on F-150-online.com for quite a while so i am familier with these auto forums. I drive my wifes Zn to work everyday and thought i would join this site to try to get some tips for better gas mileage. After looking around a bit, it looks like i'm getting about as good as i can expect without going nuts with my driving habits. I get about 26-27 and it's almost all highway driving. around 70mph.. I drive a 2001 Zn with a 2.5 V6 auto tranny. It looks like that's as good as I'm gonna get? Anyone tried adding a turbo or supercharger? if so what does that do to the MPG? |

Re: new member intro
Well, first off welcome. Second off, you got the wrong section. You want the welcome section at the top of the forums.
Second, adding a cold air intake and exhaust can help increase your MPG, since your power to weight ratio will go up, without using any more fuel. In terms of The turbo or supercharger, you will want to read up in the forced induction section of the forums, I am sure this topic has been covered at least once.

Re: new member intro
thanks for the reply and info.
I know for my f-150 addding CAI and free flowing exhaust helps some, but only about 1-2 mpg at the best. If I am going to spend any money on this it's got to at least get me to 30mpg. I'm not sure if that's possible. How about a canned tune? do they help much on these cars? |

Forced induction is going to drop your mileage, not increase it.
An intake and exhaust (as well as headers) are probably your best bet for improving mileage. But really the best thing you can do is go light on the gas pedal. Welcome to the forums. Are you on FTE, too? I'm on there as rmarquet (because my camper is based on a Ford Econoline 350), but I don't post very often.
