Whoo hoo! 3rd place for me at SCCA Autocross race

This was my first time ever racing an autocross slalom race and it was the most damn fun I ever had behind the wheel of a car! I had attended a race driving school class before the race which was instructed by 10 pro racers from all over. They had different areas where they taught us different skills such as weaving in and out, fast e-break turns, circles, straightaway starts then breaking in to corners, and other things. I was the only Cougar there and you guy's don't even know how many people came up to me and the car asking what kind it was. There were a sleuth of Viper's; Z06 Corvette's, etc and these guy's were very impressed with the aesthetics of the Cougar and my driving. At the end of the day a Supercharged Viper got the fastest score out of all the classes with a 48 sec time. I raced in the Street Modified Prepared class and got 3rd place and a trophy out of 16 other cars in my class (last time I got a trophy I was in summer camp about 20 years ago )

DAMN! there we soo many sick cars there! I bet it was a blast to check em out and actually see them race.

Awesome job on your placement! What is a slolom course? Is that different than any other autocross race? I have only been to 2 and they both were alright. Plus I suck LOL

Thank you. Yeah, there were a lot of sick cars there. Slalom is pretty much the same as autocross. Slalom is just the motion of weaving in and out of cones.

Geez! My heart is still pounding though. You get up there on the line and you have your helmet on and your trying to quickly visualize your course before you race it and when the light goes green you floor it for about 50 yards then hard brake where we did a 360 degree turn then floored it until we got to a series of hairpin turns. If you knocked any cones down you had a second subtracted from your time. Luckily that didn't happen to me.

that totally is a Pinto....in fact it was one fast pinto!

Unfortunately it was built to go straight and fast only but he didn't care. He was whipping it around corners on three wheels, fishin' it when he could. People were chanting, "long live el pinto!!" It was funny.
