    Project Vortech Cougar

So I had been casually looking for another Cougar. I always missed the two-door car and had been waiting for the right one to pop up for sale. I picked went and looked at it last week and was the second to look at the car. Fortunately for me the first buyer backed out so I went and picked it up today. The car is in very good shape for its age and was sold to me as 'needing an engine'. The car didn't show any signs of failure before it just suddenly wouldn't run. The previous owner pulled the intake and valve covers and he decided the engine was toast.

I got a bit of work done on the car today and removed some of the mods he did. One of them was a 'push-button' start that had broken wiring leads going to the ignition cylinder. Once I got this removed we got the car to turn over. I still need to go through a few more things and will probably be doing a full tear-down in the next couple months. I'm hoping to get it fired up and take it for a quick run to see if I have any other issues. Anywho, here's a couple pictures of the car. It was a Texas car up until the end of last year and was garaged too so it's a very clean car.

    Re: Project Vortech Cougar

Let's just say that I paid less for the entire car with everything than a used Vortech is worth...

    Here's a couple more pics...

Got the valve covers reinstalled. Hoping that I can put everything together and try to fire it up and see what I find. I still believe that the engine is fine and based on what he said I think that there may have been some other issue. Assuming everything is good to go on this 2.5 I'll be adding SVT cams, SVT upper and lower intakes and an SVT tb to it, then optimizing the y-pipe, adding larger injectors so I can remove the booster pump and getting it tuned. :D

Nice, dude awesome find. Did you find it local?

Does it have the updated drive shaft for the supercharger?

Can't wait to see how this goes. Good luck!

Matt, the car was 10 min from my 'rents place in Penfield. It took longer to load it up on the car hauler than the drive to and from his house. The kit was sent out under warranty by the original owner to have the spline drive replaced with the updated pin drive.

Beans, thanks for the offer but i'll be keeping my poopy looking car for a bit...
