Dragon Run

Last Friday Naturaltal3nt was moving west and had stopped in Louisville TN. I happened to be on vacation in Gatlinburg, so we met up with icysvt and 1999mtx for a Dragon run.

there are pictures of us on moonshine photo, zeephoto, and us129photos

we took a group photo at the end of The Dragon

and i took video footage from my in-car camera mount. sadly i didnt get the whole run as for some reason it wasnt recording initially.

Re: Dragon Run

hmmm october... that still depresses me.

2 cars with the opposite parts needed to properly hit the dragon, 96 SE with a properly prepped mtx but stock suspension, or the cougar still with the slushbox but a truely bangin suspension.... financially I'm not seeing either of them being completed till next season.

eitherway, great video!

i actually think the ATX would do better because you can focus on steering and not worry about shifting, thats why i would rev out second gear and then coast down until i had to brake. less shifting that way.

Re: Dragon Run

great video! just out of curosity....how fast do you think you guys were taking those curves on average? it had to be fairly fast because i noticed you guys had to slow down quite a bit when you got behind that car at one point.

i would say anywhere from probably 25MPH and up depending on the turn. I know i could have gone faster as the tires only squeeled 2 or 3 times, those slow cougars were in my way though

i think i only ever left 2nd gear twice, maybe 3 times on the whole road. If you watch the glimpses of the tach you can see that i rarely, if ever, dropped below about 3000RPMs. in second gear that equates to ~25MPH

lol the vid kinda made it look like you guys were going faster than that but still must have been a fun ride nonetheless! next time just do a little bump drafting on the slower cars

Re: Dragon Run

it deffinitely felt faster than that too. :rollinglaugh: one thing to remeber is that the turns are probably recommended 15mph or less. also we let Trey lead in his Isuzu pickup. if you watch the sunglasses hanging from the rear view, its obvious we're pulling pretty hard through the turns (they dont swing to the right very well though)

Edit: Looks like Martinsville is about 5.5hrs from the bottom of the Dragon. you could come join us (CEG) in October.
