Re: nekkid

yup been slowly dissasembling things all winter. had a buddy come over saturday night to help me lift off the dash. I probably could've done it by myself but I envisioned too many things going wrong.

Re: nekkid

pulling the HVAC in its entirety... I mean its either that or replace the blower resistor. I'll be damned if I'm going to spend 18 bucks. I have the heater core seperated from the rest of the assembly but for the life of me I am struggling to get the 2 coolant lines to disconnect from the firewall.

the dash will most likely be going back in.

Re: nekkid

That looks a lot cleaner than what my project currently looks like....

I'm having a really difficult time figuring out where all the wiring goes because I wasn't the one who took it apart. Are you just going to rebuild by memory or do you have something you will follow to get it all back together?

memory for the most part. I helped break down crispy's car many a years ago. so I've seen this process before. Her's was done like yours, seperate the harness off the dash. I took the harness off with the dash, this way all the wires are already in their associated places. It shouldn't be that hard as each harness more or less only fits in one place [although the exacting method of how everything is snaked around etc, can be tricky].

Also I do have a spare harness [big upps to wade for that], so I was able to see the 'whole picture' as I was breaking everything down. Plus I did add labels to some of the components just in case. not to mention this is the dozenth time I have broken down my car in this manner [excluding the actual pulling of the dash], so I'm pretty compfortable with all this

I'd imagine that HVAC vacuum line thing would be important and difficult to remember... so heres a cheat sheet for you.
the harness in particular [note I cut it off the clip that holds it in the center]

heres where the black plug goes [just to the right of the main HVAC unit]

heres the white one, this one is allll the way on the right end of the dash

the grey and blue ones mount to the front most canister [on the left of the HVAC unit]

and the red and yellow mount to the rear most canister [on the left of the HVAC unit]

anyways I will be posting a full pic of the main harness shortly and labeling what each plug is for.

Re: nekkid

I may be hitting you up with a few pictures and questions in the next few weeks when I can get back to working on assemble if that's alright. I don't want to clutter up your gratuitous thread so I'll PM you.
