there was a silver one on that show inked that WAS on A&E... i beleive it was on the episode where the dude wrecked their show car... he rolled away in a cougar

The sheilds in the movie 300 used by the spartans were made from cd4e transmissions.. so the cougar was used in that movie...

in the episode with the WRC focus and the f1 car, he compliments the cougar, iv heard him compliment the mondeo too, he really likes the mondeo.

in forza you can swap in a 2.5 liter duratec into the focus and turbo it. its kinda cool.

I forgot about the F1/WRC/Cougar race. That was taken from a DVD titled Jeremy Clarkson - Head To Head.

Didn't the cougar get like a minute and a half headstart and still lost to both other cars?

Something like that (it lost, but I don't recall how long the head start was). Given the power, weight, downforce and tire discrepancies it isn't suprising. More of an illustration of how much faster race cars are than street cars.

As noted, GT2 does have the New Edge Cougar (with both Ford and Mercury logos, and the Ford one is about twice the price) and the Mondeo. The Mondeo, by the way, is more like a normal Contour than an SVT, particularly because it has the 170hp version of the engine rather than the 200hp version. Interestingly, the Mondeo in GT2 is capable of being race-modified, but cannot be turbocharged and is limited to about 310hp; the Cougar cannot be race-modified (no downforce ), nor can it take significant natural-aspiration mods, but can take a turbocharger to put it over the 500hp mark.

There are at least two notable inaccuracies in the Mercury Cougar in that game. The exhaust pipe is on the wrong side (the right rather than the left), and the transmission has the European 3.82 final drive ratio, rather than the American 4.03 (which is why I kept thinking "these shift points are a bit too high" at first).

And, as noted, both GT2 and GT4 do have '60s Cougars, but only GT2 has a modern one.

...can you tell that I've been playing around in GT2 a bit lately?

Also, there is a mod for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 3 which replaces the Stallion (or whatever it was called) with a Fox-body ('80s) Cougar. (You can find it at http://www.coolcats.net/media/ )
