Auto Loc

Is it possible to fit a remote door opening device to a Coug?

If so is it difficult to make it work with the cars remote key fob.

RE:Auto Loc

its easy to fit (if you have some experience) all it does is replace the handle instead of pulling the handle you press a hidden button and that unlatches the door for you not sure if you could run it from your remote tho???? on a side note this is a similar system to what TVR's use it is basically a solenoid.

RE:Auto Loc

I was always told these were illegal for MOT times as someone from the outside needs to be able to open the door in case of an emergancy....then along came the TVR.......anyone have any ideas?

RE:Auto Loc

they are not illegal otherwise tvr would not be able to use them and someone from outside can open them by pressing the button underneath the wing mirror??

RE:Auto Loc

But if the car has been involved in a smash.....whats the chances of the wing mirroe still being there ???? lol

Or am I just being pedantic?? lol......I just remember years ago when these "kits" were available, that people were failing their MOT's because there must be a "physical way of opening the door...as in there must be a handle or something to get hold of and pull....... but perhaps things have changed coz as you say, TVR have got away with it........You never know....It might be that wonderfull MOT rule that states if your car came fitted with it from the factory, then it must be fitted and working for the MOT.....so therefore as TVR's didn't come from the factory with door handles, they don't need them for the MOT.......makes sense I suppose.
