Need Help with dial surrounds

Hi guys,

I'm right in the middle of trying to install my chrome dial surrounds, got my full dash apart at the moment and wanting to get it finished before it get dark. I know some of you's have already installed the surrounds, I'm hoping you could help me.

I've got the binicale split in two, It looks like the only way of getting the surround for the speedo in, is to split the clear lense from the black surround, if that makes sence? I'm really not wanting to damage anything, is there an easy way of seperating the lense? Or is there another way getting the large chrome surround in that I'm over looking?

Re: Need Help with dial surrounds

Thanks for confirming that for me jezport;

Got them in now, looking good, I'm now in the process of cleaning off all my finger prints from the lense.

I think I've spent the last hour and a half scratching my head deciding weither or not to attack the lence with a stanley knife or not, didn't want to damage it, but I also didn't want to damage the chrome surround by squeezing it in.

I'll try and post of pics later, for anyone that wants to see them.

Re: Need Help with dial surrounds

Glad you got it sorted Chris. I havent been on any of the forums for days and only just seen this. Iv seen these rings on Jamies cat and they look good. Id fit them but i have the carbon fibre surround and these wont fit with that in place. If i can be bothered ill take speedo out, remove CF, spray it silver chrome (or maybe just silver) then stick CF back in place. Need speedo re calibrating anyway, but my to do list is too big at the moment

Re: Need Help with dial surrounds

I never thought of recalibrating the dials, my speedo is like 5mph out. I took plenty of photos with my phone, so some are a bit blured here are just some of them:

The surround for the right heater switch doesn't sit in correctly, will need to get some glue for that one I think.

Very nice Chris, but where's the ring for your headlight switch?

I know! Would of been nice if that was included with in the switch rings, I dont know you can get one for the light switch. It isn't that bad cause its on the other side of the steering wheel. What does look bad is the switch for headlight height and dash dimmer don't have a surrounds.

I think Alan (Pid_16V) has one on his headlight switch.

Re: Need Help with dial surrounds

Oh my god your car is... backwards, it's making me sick

Haha I really can't picture how uncomfortable and awkward it would be to shift with my left hand? Maybe just cause I was raised righty?

but that looks really good! I just swapped mine with a C2 cluster and I'll you, the chrome rings is what really sets the gauge off. nice job!

Edit: I just realized I was in UK Cougar so I'm going to , didn't mean to insult you blokes (did I use it correctly), just clicked on new threads.

Re: Need Help with dial surrounds

Not a brilliant piccy but the ring is in there, the company sent me the wrong kit originally (vauxhall iirc) and one of the rings was just right for this job
