Looks like I finally have my greddy

Well after much patient waiting, and a budget of $150usd it looks like my greddy emanage is on its way.

should be a lot of fun, most fun van around

Tom I remember you said something about software so you can datalog (as datalogging through the existing obdi diagnostic port seems to be impossible with the MPV unless I spend big bucks).

no doubt when it gets here I will have a hundred questions.

Re: Looks like I finally have my greddy

The Emanage will be spliced into place and it should have a spot for you to attach a laptop to it elimanating any concerns about datalogging.

Search ebay or the web for GReddy eManage Support Tool. This comes with a special cable and the software.

Re: Looks like I finally have my greddy

Well I sit here looking at my greddy, wondering whether it will ever get connected. Seems wiring diagrams for the Aussie Spec MPV are no where to be found

Must have phone every performance shop within a 100 mile radius.....

Anyway, if all else fails after a few more days I think I will have to take the plunge and buy an oem book (mind you they are not cheap $100) if they are available.

Things are so desperate I am even trying searches in japanese

oh well will keep you updated.

Re: Looks like I finally have my greddy

Thats right, I do have a question Tom,

with connecting in the greddy, I note some cars need a resistor for the MAF connector, is this the case with the cougar?

Also with the ignition connection, is it because the signals are in AC that it creates the difficulty? I am just a bit mystified, and I am thinking that if my vehicle is supposedly obd1 may they have used a different firing method at all or is that independent of the emissions protocol.

You should not hook up the ignition wires until you verify how the ignition coils are fired. If they are fired directly from the PCM then you can't use it to adjust timing without some external circuitry.

As far as the MAF, if it is like the Ford MAFs in the cougar then you do not need a resistor. Only hook up two wires, maybe gray and white?? I can't remember.
I have a bunch of stuff for it like the manuals in files and such if you need them.

email me at me email if you want me to start sending you some of it.

Just was a little more than what I had to spend, I did have a good look, and had a read through there details, decided that would be for a future project car that I will do (conversion from carb to injection).

Just happy with what I have for the moment, and looking forward to learning more about tuning as I move forward.

BTW, thankyou Tom for your assistance, you continue to encourage me even when it seems things are getting a little difficult.

Re: Looks like I finally have my greddy

Been looking at the wiring of the ignition and wondering why I cannot just intercept the pip crankshaft signal to adjust the timing?
