03 mtx from zetec focus
so i was gonna put in a mtx75 out of a zetec focus whenever i did my 3l swap and turbo install, i came across a tranny from an 03 zetec focus from one of my friends that i can get for free and in excellent shape. Just wondering if it will fit cuz i knew the 00-02s would fit, but wasn't quite sure about the 03's and above. Any input is great.

Do a search.... and its not gonna fit, no matter what year zetec MTX it is.

i thought it was the shaft that was different in the tranny itself

the bell housing is different as well as the input shaft length. it sounds like the op wants to put the zetec final drive in his mtx when he swaps to the 3L. This can be done but you need to know what design level input shaft you have in your mtx. My 2k mtx I purchased used happens to have the early level 2 part (iirc) input shaft that would require discontinued parts to change to the zetec final drive ratio. the new level input shaft, iirc, is easier to change to the zetec final drive ratio. best to head over to fordcontour.org and sign up so you can ask question of Terry at HMS about your mtx and your options for upgrading it.
