Any suggestions????

Ok so the coug is getting ready for a full revamp of the tranny. So far i have decided on getting an LSD, new shift cables and the FOCUS shift tower. But for the clutch, I am completely lost, I am not sure what to get. So I figured I would see if you guys had any suggestions. Everyday driver, I drive hard, so durability is a huge issue, there will be mild track use (eventually). I will probably go with the SVT flywheel. But I just need some suggestions as to what clutch I should go with. Any help is appreciated.

TJ

Re: Any suggestions????

I had a thread on this a few weeks ago.

The SPEC stage 3+ is the strongest DRIVEABLE clutch, but it's HELLA PRICEY and it's probably more than you will ever need unless you go turbo/blower or built 3.0.

Spec stage 1 is a good solid upgraded daily driver clutch, and is basically equivalent to the SVT Contour clutch.

I went with the SVT, since it was OEM Ford, so you KNOW it will work flawlessly, and it's cheaper than the SPEC.

Re: Any suggestions????

Thanks for the response, I have decided to go with a light upgrade to the 2.5, so nothing crazy performance wise. Where should I go for the SVT equipment? Ford Parts? or do you know of somewhere else?

Re: Any suggestions????

Team Ford Parts. That's where I got the best deal.

Re: Any suggestions????

Click here to order parts from TeamFord online.

For the SVT clutch kit, do a search for F7RZ-7L596-EA on the main page, use Ford as the make.

I started searching blind, and couldn't get any matches for the whole kit together. So I PM'ed Bill, and he send me that part number, which is the disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing/slave cylinder, and alignment tool, all in one box. I didn't check, but I think it's about $236 or so before shipping, which is an AWESOME deal.

Re: Any suggestions????

Will this kit work for the 2.0? One thing I've never figured out is if there is a difference between the 2.0 & 2.5 tranny

Re: Any suggestions????

The 2.5 clutches are not compatible with the 2.0 Cougars.

But I am pretty sure you can use the 2.5's LSD for the 2.0. Mine was listed for a Focus, after all.

pretty sure the only difference in the mtx75 between the V6 and the I4 are the bell housings (starter mounting location and bolt pattern) and the gear ratios.
