Re: turbo engine how should i build up my trany

With what you have listed that should be good. Also if you have a pre-2000 cougar, you might want to look into upgrading the shift tower.

Re: turbo engine how should i build up my trany

i got a 01 alson looking at a torsion t-2 their about 100 dollars cheaper quaife's are going for around 650 and the torsion is 550 plus no shims and its easyer to get.

If your still looking for svt parts you might want to look over at ceg just went their and they had a crap load of parts for sale.

talk to terry haines at hms about doing the slick shift forks, focus shift tower and probally rebuilt ur entire tranny. i believe he can get his hands on the B-1 gearset and even the quaife gear set.

Re: turbo engine how should i build up my trany

i've heard it's not good to use a lightened flywheel on a cougar/contour with forced induction

Re: turbo engine how should i build up my trany

gamiller speaks the truth. The lightened flywheel makes the Duratec "twitchy" during shifts, and even during throttle braking or deceleration due to the decrease in rotating mass. While a lightened flywheel "frees" up power by removing extra mass the engine has to spin, it makes for less "friendly" daily use. F/I will only exasorbate this behavior.
