Appreciation to DanG//(others) for answering a few questions i had regarding this topic.
Front Restrictor- restrictor mount taken out of the holes it sits. I was trying to get it out but there was no room. ![]() Again, no room to remove restrictor ![]() And again. If is not the subframe that blocks the exist to this restrictor, then is the bracket attached to the tranny,in other words no room again. ![]() ![]() Rear Restrictor- The bolt is taken off ![]() You can see the restrictor from here, but no room to remove either. ![]() No room again, because of the sway bar and this cooling line that is on the way. ![]() Just a close up view from under the car. ![]() view from driver side tire( no room to remove again ) ![]() view from driver side tire(Close up) and no room to remove. ![]() -Both rear/front through bolts are taken off -Both rear/front two mount bolts are taken off After hours of trying to remove the front one, i decided to support the engine from the oil pan and it helped removing the front restrictor off the holes it sat on. But still there was no room to remove the restrictor completely. Like i said, i was supporting the engine and raise it up about 2 inches, i didn't want to go higher because i would of been jacking the whole car from the oil pan and i think that is a big no no. Again i have an ATX, i heard is less complicated doing this job on MTX, unfortunately i have no choice. Throw me some resolutions for this problem i'm having. I will probably not drive the cougar this week or untill i get this done, i have to get it done! Is my goal .Share experiences your may have that can be a solution to this problem. So far the only solution i can think of is dropping the subframe, but i don't know for sure if that is my only option. Enlighten me ![]()

Re: ATX rear/front restrictors(mounts) questions
Well just to update the thread not knowing if anybody cares but i just dropped the subframe a few inches for the front one, and on top of that i raise the engine a little it. Guess what ? still no free space to remove this restrictor!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() This **** is driving me , haven't had car all week cuz i wanna you know? But idk, the rear one is definatly a pain in between the testicles to remove honestly! I think i'll have to let a shop do the rear one, but i hate having people i don't know working on my car, since they wont give a **** if they **** up something i won't notice. ![]()

Re: ATX rear/front restrictors(mounts) questions
the front one will come out without moving the subframe. you need to push it up into the rad fan and it will come out if you rotate it some. Ive gotten the front one off of my atx. never had to change the rear one though

Quote:
Isn't the rear one the one that gets messed up the worst? Because of the weigh of the tranny.

Re: ATX rear/front restrictors(mounts) questions
You should be able to get both of them out from the top.
Remove the battery and tray, and you should be able to wedge it past the coolant hoses and water pump without much problem... The rear can come out the top too, if you remove the intake and airbox (UIm can stay in place)... reach down past the starter and you will easily be able to get to it, as the bracket mounts towards the top part of the ATX near the dipstick. Unbolt the front and rear brackets, and you will be able to remove the mounts. YES< looking at the pics again, you need to remove the roll restrictor brackets that mount to the tranny as well as the restrictors themselves... there are 3 bolts that are in the front of ATX, and 3 in the back of ATX, near the dipstick....

Re: ATX rear/front restrictors(mounts) questions
Front one = done.
PITFAx100 Did it by lowering the subframe a little more though. I'll probably have a shop do it next time it needs to be replaced, because i don't think i wanna go through hell again lol. Now, on to the rear one! I'll try and do this one from up top though, like aircougar1 mentioned. Thanks for the replies, i'll inform if i was successful or not... hopefully i am :S

Re: ATX rear/front restrictors(mounts) questions
Ok, done! phew... was not too bad for the rear one by removing it from the engine bay. Although aligning the mount hole with the bracket to get the through bolt in was a *****. One thing is for sure though... for me this was a nightmare, great to know i'm not on it anymore!
Car feels tougher now and i think it accelerates better while turning a corner, before it felt like it was being a lazy fat ***** but now it's better. Front one was not that badly worn out but the bushings were tear off the bracket and it was just sitting there pretty much. The rear one in the other hand... was totally destroyed, all was left was the core and a piece of it's rubber hanging. Mission accomplished!

Re: ATX rear/front restrictors(mounts) questions
Great to hear! Good job!
NExt time though, try and remove the bracket and mount as ONE piece, without taking the thru bolt out... Loosen it a little bit, but don't remove it. They should come out easy, and go back in easy, too.
