Re: custom adjustable cambers

wont work without cutting out and welding in a new strut tower plate at the very least.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

when i saw that, i got excited and thought about buying the KSport coilovers. but then i learned that the coilovers do not include the "pillow top." KSport claims that they are a universal fit. to install them you would have to cut out the top of your strut tower. if the pillow top could be mounted to the strut tower, it could be made to work.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

Someone did do it on the Cougar race car. I can't remember who the owner was though.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

Leo Capaldi and the Mumm Brothers both did that to their race cars.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

I own the Mumm Bros. car now and have all the designs for the strut tops at the front and rear. The diagrams relate to a stamped steel top, pillow block strut adjuster, but they went to a machined billet aluminum version in the second or third version to improve strength and reduce weight. As well, the fabricated lower control arms are adjustable for track as well. This could be used to adjust camber and caster at the bottom without touching the upper mount.

I will see if I have an electronic copy of the diagram somewhere.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

I found some pictures. The first is the steel fabbed original camber plate. It does require you to cut out the top of your strut.

The second shot is how the strut top looks today. The important thing to remember is that this car uses Dynamic coilovers so the upper strut mount will be different than a car that uses stock style springs.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

Very interesting. I'd never seen a close up of those before. What does the upper portion of the Dynamic coilovers look like? I've heard of them, but know almost nothing about them.

Re: custom adjustable cambers

Thought it might be helpful to have a shot of the fabbed control arm as well.
