Yeah, but as per our discussion at jaged's . . . a coil over is gonna look like a coil over. So the fact they appear similar in pictures is sorta moot.

Being able to confirm the sway bar mounting tab is different definitely seems to confirm that K-sport != D2 though.

Re: D2 Coilover Damper Kit

also gam terry has the stiffer springs on his so his arent good for a dd, mine ryans, and sonzas would be good for a dd. harsher than the koni/gc, yes, but still doable

Agreed, I put a couple thousand miles on mine before killing the engine and they were just fine. Thats all strictly a matter of personal preference and tolerance, though with the D2's, if you want the pillow-soft ride of a Cadillac, you can have it with the right spring rates!

correct, I chose a spring rate that was inappropriate for anything other than a trailered track car. Its like a rollercoaster, you'll laugh, you'll scream but after 3 minutes you really want it to end. Some road imperfections will infact launch the car creating potentially dangerous situations. Christ the cars so stiff, it makes no difference if the swaybars are attached or not.

Its the whole bigger/faster/stronger thing... dont make purchase decisions because its the MOST EXXXXTREME option available to you, you are making tradeoffs. pick something thats appropriate for your intended use. If the cougar is the car you rely on for getting to and from work, D2's should not even be considered.

I disagree with that statement, partially. Tom has something like 15k on his D2's in a regularly driven Cougar, and while my experience is more limited, it was definitely a car I would have felt comfortable driving regularly. I think you would be singing a different tune had you chosen a different spring rate.

That being said, I do agree there are better solutions out there for daily driving. A good set of Koni struts with aftermarket lowering springs will be great both aesthetically and performance-wise. I recently lowered my Lincoln with Eibach springs, retaining the factory shocks, and I couldn't be more pleased with the car considering I drive it 6+ days a week.

Re: D2 Coilover Damper Kit

well I also trust tom more than the average car enthusiast as far as routinely checking the condition of equipment and experienced enough to pick up on eccentricities that arise in the steering/handling/alignment very very quickly.

I'm worried about the average person that pays a shop to drop them in the car and expects to be able to drive the piss out of them for 5 years with no effort or inspection on their part as if its a OEM specification part or something tried and true like the konis. I think rara's comment about lacking a pinch bolt is pretty moot, but as far as the locking of the sway bar mounts to be very concerning

Re: D2 Coilover Damper Kit

Gary im sorry man but you really have no experience to be making arguements man. I understand you have statements from people on forums talking about them but its the internet. Not everything is true or accurate for that matter. In all honesty, no aftermarket product is "suitable for dd" in all reality. ESPECIALLY true FULL coilovers. They are for racing. Thats the whole point of them. If people cant deal with the stiffness(which they are designed for) get a spring strut combo and stop *****ing. Visteon sides and front are not suitable for DD but I do it because im ready to deal with the cons. Now I think this thread should get back on track a little because it seems more like a pissing match than it does a true discussion about d2's.

True. My previous statements about them looking like D2s were based on stock photos which were much smaller, but looking at the pics again I'm starting to think I was mistaken since it appears that the adjusting rings are also different.
