Re: Strut Removal

You took out the axels???

It should all come apart pretty easy if it's done right. I do it like Wade suggested. Take out the Spring/Strut/Knuckle as one unit. Jack both sides of the car up so there is no pressure on the sway bar link. That will stop any Violent reactions from the car at least. Take off the Brake Rotor, unbolt the ball joint and pop it out. Remove the hub nut and pop out the drive shaft. Undo the top nut on the strut and it should drop right out.

Re: Strut Removal

when i took it all out, i didnt take anything out but the struts, but it doesnt go bak in this way so i took the whole knuckle out with the axle attached(cudnt get the axle nut to break loose because the struts and tie rods werent in to provide support)

Re: Strut Removal

I wish I would have looked here first..1 strut 3 hours..WTF!!

Everything was going ood until I came to trying to drop the lower ball joint out..just wouldnt drop enough..then I finally got it out..pulled it to the side dropped the strut out..did the swap then trying to get the ball joint back in..couldnt get the a-arm low enough..I fianlly strapped the strut to the a-arm then jackup the strut and pushed it onto the ball joint..I like the idea of jacking up on the sway bar I will try that next..am I in for any surprises on the rear???
