Adjustable coil-overs.
Hey,
I'm looking for adjustable coilovers because I live in Syracuse NY and we get the most snow of any city in the country! That means I'd like to raise the car for winter driving and lower it for summer driving. eBay Motors: Mercury 99 00 Cougar Coilover Lowering Coil Springs Kit (item 300220191706 end time May-04-08 18:30:27 PDT) Those springs are CHEAP. Has anyone tried them? O_o Where do I find D2 or GC coilover systems? I am trying to be as thrifty as possible! |

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.
Shop for the best price, but do NOT be "cheap" when you are dealing with something as serious as your suspension... you will do more harm than good.
I would buy nothing less than Eibach's Ground Controls. The D2's are slightly overkill for non-track use. Absolutely, positively, NO bomz, and NO ebay no-name coilovers. I suggest you read the following topics: A number of members who were about to make horrible mistakes learned very important lessons... http://www.newcougar.org/forums/susp...ant-lower.html and http://www.newcougar.org/forums/susp...-s-vs-kyb.html There are many things you should and should not do... so read carefully. ![]() Last edited by ND4SPD; 05-03-2008 at 09:17 PM. |

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.
Don't buy something as important as suspension from a company who also makes cold-air intakes for Civics.
Do it right or don't do it at all. End of story.

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.
They aren't well-engineered. They are thrown together by a fly-by-night company who subsists by taking money from kids who are dirt poor, but want what they saw in The Fast & the Furious. Kids with no money and less brains. Tuners. Posers. Ricers. Wannabes.
Automotive suspension is a TERRIBLY precise affair. When you consider the abuse it takes, and the disaster that can occur if it fails, why would you want to cheap out? If a cold-air intake is junk, big deal. Worst case scenario, it damages your engine, and you can't drive anymore. If their "Xenon HID projectors" fail - hey, whatever. You just look stupid. But if your suspension breaks, you HIT A WALL, or ANOTHER CAR, or a RIVER, or a PEDESTRIAN, at TOP SPEED. When it comes to auto parts, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Sometimes cheap is OK. But not in this case. Just say no. Riding on stock suspension for a while longer sure beats dying... or killing.
