Interesting. In 2005 when I ordered mine, they showed the Mondeo, but didn't actually have a setup for them at that time. One was developed in late 2005/early 2006 though, so it would seem strange to me that they would have dropped it already.

KSport denies that their coilovers are the same as the D2 coilovers, but everybody else think they're darn close. There is talk that the spring rates are different. The KSport coilovers part number for the Ford Contour application is (CFD110-KP)
I have no proof that they are the same (they may not be), but the pictures I've seen look just like my D2s, just with a different color anodized coating.

yes I would say its very appropriate for autocrossing and the occasional summer weekend cruise, but I wouldnt recommend it for anything else, especially not a daily driver.

and as far as them being 'the same' an the KSports... I doubt it, its a simple part, integrated strut and spring, ANYONE who makes that is going to look suprisingly like the other.

and Rara's warning about the racing coilovers is very accurate. The sway bar links especially, although with their stiffness I really dont think the sway bar is even necissary [my rear bar wasnt even attached the last few months it was on the road and I didnt even notice]. The knuckle attachment is relevent but is not one that would really concern me.

and gamill, I dont think they have ever listed the cougar as supported for the D2's, our kits when they arrived were stamped mondeo.

why would it be bad for a daily driver? too harsh? the FAQ at the Australian D2 site says that both the track and street versions can be run on the street. which did you get?

btw, i found the part number for the Contour application on the American D2 site: D2-F19.

i also found a kid who had a terrible experience with his. apparently D2 switched manufacturers, and the new one was putting out an inferior product, resulting in a recall. i hope that's been resolved by now!

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.

Terry chose very stiff spring rates, so I can see where he is coming from. I would have no problem recommending them on a DD with a softer spring rate though. For reference, I have 9 kg/mm (503 lb/in) front and 7 kg/mm (391 lb/in) rear, Terry has 11 kg/mm (615 lb/in) front and 9 kg/mm rear.

yes and somewhere between those numbers, sway bars become redundant.... and the ride becomes quite intolerable for road use.

but I would hesitate to recommend them for DD use simply because they dont seem very rust tolerant. I took mine out to a meet once and got stuck driving through some salt on the way home... and have been dealing with a bit of surface rust on the coilover threading ever since. And I would worry about the sway bar linkage loosening and coming in contact with the rim in a very bad way. too many potholes, too many adverse conditions to recommend that you can just throw it on, forget about it and drive many thousands of miles without inspecting it.

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.

I've seen light surface rust as well, but it has only been cosmetic so far. I've got about 15k miles on mine so far with no additional adjustment or tightening needed so far. Everything still spun freely on their threads a month ago when I removed them to get at some other bits.

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.

Apparently KSports can be had for $800 shipped, which is an excellent price on coilovers; however...

I keep reading that vendors as well as users are complaining about quality issues.

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.

i havent seen them for $800 shipped. $850 is about the lowest i have seen them, although you might be able to get them for less if you have coupon code of some sort.

Re: Adjustable coil-overs.

This thread should be stickied, or added to the info in the suspension FAQ!

PLEASE!
