Re: I want new springs, but I don't want to lower.
I can understand that... Its funny how aftermarket parts can be cheaper than stock ones!
![]() I mean, don't get me wrong, I have an aftermarket bumper as well, but for me, the cougar has become something of a 'toy'. Like anything, once you 'learn' how to drive, dealing with all the nuances of driving it around isn't so bad. Avoiding any form of bump or pothole, and taking all hills and driveway curbs at angles, its all manageable if you're careful. But yeah, for a daily driven car (especially one taken to work and/or school) unless you are lucky enough to have well maintained roads and parking lots in the areas you drive, its better to have components thats are more 'wash and wear'. If that drift bumper is made of fiberglass like mine, there is zero flex and if anything hits it the wrong way, its not pretty! Now actually... you said you really like it and don't plan on changing it, but, I've heard good things about those "flex fiber" bumpers... apparently those are much more resilient. If there is a style you like, it might be worth checking those out, especially if you do decide to go an inch or two lower in the future, but still keep the car for daily driving. ![]()

Re: I want new springs, but I don't want to lower.
Smaller wheels and taller tires would help give some extra cushion if thats what you looking to do. I dont know much about suspension.
This is just a thought...

Re: I want new springs, but I don't want to lower.
Go with eibach. 1.0 rear / 1.2 front.
I have b&g's with that drift kit and its way too low ...

Re: I want new springs, but I don't want to lower.
You can get slightly more ground clearance with 225/50/16 tires its only about 0.2" but its somthing.
Change your struts, it will help lessen your bounce and so you will not hit quite as much. No so much comfort but you can make it handel better with out lowering it with an aftermarket rear swaybar ( Roush, Bat), A RSTB from jaged helps alot to, a FSTB will help a tiny bit. Also keep an eye on your tire pressure, make sure its at the recomended psi, a low tire will drop your ground clearance noticably. With BG springs and a roush kit im only 3.5" from the ground and I manage to drive it everyday in Pittsburgh with hardly ever hitting, the 225/50/16 tires helped quite a bit, its amazing how much that that extra 0.2" can help when your that low.

Re: I want new springs, but I don't want to lower.
No it does help, but like I said a only tiny bit... and you have to realy be pushing the car to notice it. Somthing like 90mph on a 25mph marked off ramp.
So really it will only help on a race track, ( if you value your life and liscense)If you really look into it it will stiffen the front suspention, but the differance is so small due to the firewall and that massive bar in the dash being only a few inches from the front struts. Still haveing a brace directly on the strut tower will reduce flex in the front end. So mostly it is for cosmetic reasons, but it does have some effect, be it very minimal, on the handeling.
