www.spmotorsports.com they have a msd ignition system for each engine the cougar has. Check them out.

MSD is the way to go, but i have a MSD DIS-4 and race wires and bosch +4 plugs and it has not helped me but a tiny bit
yeah, i dont think you should expect to see any gains from running an MSD unit on our NA engines....Im not gonna upgrade to a Vortech though without also doing the MSD box. In a forced induction situation, i would think the stonger spark and better plugs and wire would help more, making sure they were properly gapped of course.

thats true, the only problem is that i have experienced problems with ignition systems with a forced induction creating more than 8 psi of boost. the ignition is too early causing massive misfires. this apparently is common in the duratec engine. i would recommend going a step up on the ignition to maybe a MSD race kit, because you will need to retard the ignition somewhat. This is the info i got from Jackson racing, never seen a cougar with a vortech yet, only a paxton and jackson racing supercharger, but i would assume vortechs are the same way
