Trading-in/selling the Cougar

Hey Everyone - I can't believe I'm actually probably going to do this, but I will likely be trading in the Cougar this weekend in favor of a Nissan Titan truck. I desperately need the hauling capacity for my new house projects and to tow the Bronco, plus my friend who had a truck that I borrowed just sold his. Of course, I'd love to continue to get together with you guys when you meet up and I'll probably continue to check into this forum.

Of course, this means I have a lot of stuff that I'm going to be selling, and a lot of it is brand new. Right now, I'm trying to work quickly to give someone else a deal on my suspension and Focus SVT brakes rather then give them away with the car. So, if you're interested in either, have a look at my post in the For Sale section. Hopefully one of you local folks will want to jump on this and we can get it taken care of.

Thanks!

RE: Trading-in/selling the Cougar

Hey Sam - I actually considered selling the Horse and keeping the Cat. Unfortunately, top dollar on that Bronco is probably $1,000 versus the $6,000 to $8,000 the Cougar is worth. I don't think I could afford to insure a newer truck plus the Cougar anyway. Believe me, I played with a lot of scenarios that might allow me to keep the Cougar, but it just isn't practical right now.

I've talked to David a couple times and it sounds like we should be able to work something out on the suspension and brakes. I've thought of a few other things I need to take care of if you guys are interested:

16" Blizzak snow tires (with 10K miles on them and full replacement warranty) - $200 plus trade for some decent 16" tires to swap. Basically, you get the near new snow tires for your 16" stock wheels and I'll take your used tires and put them on my car. Especially nice if you plan to get bigger wheels/tires for the summer.

B&M Short shifter - $50 with trade for stock shifter. This is maybe a 30 minute install job (I've done it at least three times for Jake, Sam, and myself).

Titan is a good choice, I'll be in the market in the summer(unless I total the van during the winter), although I think the titan is out of my size range... I like the looks of it.

RE: Trading-in/selling the Cougar

I've got a world of mods - I'll be selling all those off really soon without trade for stock parts. Right now, the only thing that I have left that is aftermarket that I don't have the stock piece to put back on is the B&M Short Shifter. So, if anyone is interested in the swapping for a B&M shifter, let me know so we can do it this weekend.

Eric - have you driven a Titan? They are amazing how they have a great truck "feel" but also are very civilized. Plus, they've got all the features I want without having to get into complicated options packages like Ford and Dodge have. Mandy and I really couldn't believe how much it stood above the Fords and Dodges we had test driven. I really was set on getting a SVT Lightning so I wouldn't lose the speed fix, but the Nissan with extra cab will be cheaper to purchase, insure, etc.

RE: Trading-in/selling the Cougar

I haven't driven the titan, cause I've ruled it out..
Its bigger than my needs dictate.
actually looking at the Tacomas Granted wether I buy
new or not depends on a few factors.. but the tacomas seem to
run forever... SR5 of course.
