    Ricer Flyby™

Grrr I get tired of these Honda Civic's and now even a miata trying to do the Ricer Flyby™.

On the way to work this morning I hit two ricers on the way in. First instance, this one was traffic light races so to speak. I'm about two car lengths behind a van in the right lane and this Miata with what looks to be a young 18 + or - bling bling looking guy driving pulls beside me and revs a couple of time inbetween shifts. We were doing around 30 to 40 and he slows back to about 1 1/2 car lengths behind me in the left lane and guns it passing me and the van in front of me, then gets over into the right lane. THe van in front of me pulls into the turning lane and turns off, now I am behind the miata and we're stopped at a light with some other cars in the left lane now. I've heard some bumble bee's for exhaust in the hondas and all, but man, these bee's must have been sick or on drugs. Sounded awful! Only mod it looked like was exhaust. Maybe an intake?!? Light turns green and he pulls off, and seeing him trying to shift as fast/hard as he can. I wait till he finally opens up enough space where I can pull into the left lane and I'm only 1/4 throttle keeping up with him. Lane opens, I gunned it and was gone. Then I turn off later ahead and as he goes by he toots his horn.

    Grrrr.

And the civic deal was on the interstate which I had just turned onto. Man I was no more than about 2 miles from this incident when a red modded civic comes up on my @ss and rides me for a few minutes, then slows up and guns it getting into the next lane. I jumped on it as soon as he got over and dusted him.

I just don't get it. Why do some people think the Ricer Flyby™ is the only way to race? Am I missing something hehe. If they know they won't win the race in any other way, why even bother. Or are they just trying to show off?

Sounds like the Miata just wanted to see what you had, no harm in that. He gave you a honk which makes it sound like he was giving you an "OK" or something, that and you were taking an exit so I dunno how it could've been a flyby.

The Civic probably wanted to race, or at least try to. A Ricer Flyby™ is when the other guy obviously loses a race and as your shutting down they still come flying up as if still racing.

I had a guy in a modded Eclipse (poorly modded, I would guess by looking at his exterior work) do a flyby on me when I got off the interstate once and was decelerating down the ramp. Since it was a 2-lane off-ramp, the Eclipse just comes blazing down the ramp at most likely 75mph and then about 1-2 carlengths behind me, the guy drops it into the next highest gear and all I heard was "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSP" Sounded like total ass. Even my wife said, "What the hell was that supposed to be?!?!?", and she's usually pretty oblivious when it comes to car stuff.

yeah, i know what you mean... I got a ricer flyby from a Chrystler Intrepid TAXI today...

I was in the left lane, he was in the right lane - which was going to dissapear shortly
I knew he was gonna gun it and try and cut me off... so i beat him to it... anyway, when the lane becomes 2 lanes again (in a RESIDENTIAL area) I'm in the right lane, doing the speed limit, and no joke... he flys past me going at LEAST 60mph (residential area!)

I was like "whoa... crazy fvcker"

Damn Canadians! I thought Americans were the only ricers, but now it looks like some Canadians want to be American too. See now you just need to move down here so I'll stop making jokes at ya!

American's the only ricers? No way, I've yet to see as many ricers on the streets as I did when I was in Toronto.

yah mang... i came out of one of the college buildings today... and parked right across the street was a:

red Saturn...2 door... weird 'fin' looking grey graphics, and all along the bottom of the car he had "sparco, greddy, eibach, nitto" etc... stickers..

now... this car REALLY had - and automatic transmission, hubcaps... it looked completely stock.

looked like a dirty winter-beater...with stickers.

Killing ricers is prolly what I will miss most about giving up the mustang. With the cougar I don't think I'll try it hardly ever, just so I don't look stupid.

They Miata was prolly giving you credit, or he was just a faggot.

Cyko, you can still have loads of fun burning ricers. Cougars, beleive it or not, are rather fast, esspecially 5-speeds. Most ricer cars wont give you trouble, esspecially after you drop in a few mods. Racing in a Cougar rather fun. I have a DynoMax exhaust, and it sounds alot better than an I4, but quite the deep ugly blare of some V8 (mostly GMs :D). When you gas or revv, ricers get REALLY confused, they assume Cougars suck, and can't figure out where the nice sounding exhaust is coming from.

Anyways, Ricer Flybys do suck. I was at a "stop light race" with a guy in a Civic Ex. It was customn blue, tail lights, muffler, bodykit, dark dark tint and a HUGE wing. The stop light was broken or something, so we were sitting there for 2 minutes or so. That's forever when waiting for the green. He revved, crept forward a bit, I just revved a bit, just sitting. When the light finally goes green I'm 2 car lengths ahead of him before we get out of the intersection. I hit 40, let off the gas, he must have left off at 30 or so. I get into his lane and start to slow down alot. So, what does he do? Shifts lanes and slams the gas, like he beat me.

    Rar, I don't get it.
