    pulled over by a prick

i got pulled over a few weeks ago for not having a front plate on my car, the officer asked why i didn't have one, i told him i had ordered a new plastic backing thing for it and was going to put it on when that came in, the cop understood but told me he was still going to write me a ticket i asked him if it would be like one of those fix-it tickets and he said yes and that he was going to mail me the ticket since he wasn't in his normal car, i said ok and we were on our way.

about a week later i get the ticket in the mail, it was a $92 fine and it wasn't a fix-it ticket i called up the court house and talked to them about it, they said that i only had two choices plead guilty or not guilty, she said if i plead not guilty then i can explain the issue, so i did.

yesterday was the court date, walked in and was waiting in the waiting area when a lady came up to me she had something to do with the court system, she said that the officer had told her he had already given me a break, he told her the reason i got pulled over in the first place was for going 90mph in a 55, my jaw dropped, he had just all out lied, so i was in the middle of a huge mess and we hadn't even gone into the court room yet! and to add to the mess the officer was pissed and said that i was going to loose my license if he adds that speeding ticket, so in the end i had to do alot of butt kissing to keep from getting that speeding ticket that i didn't even do anything to deserve and still got the original ticket!
i have a feeling i was played by this officer.... what do you guys have to say

Everyone should be a cop so that we can all do whatever we want, drink and drive, harass people, lie about everything, etc. Sorry to hear that man. I have been pulled over for that too when I have tennessee plates on my car, they dont even give you a front plate!

You sure he wrote down the right plate number? Was he even in a patrol car?

I once got a sound pollution ticket, and the cop told me I was lucky he didn't hit me with "that fast driving" I fought it due to "harassment", I didn't win but the cop didn't dare use the speed issue and in Ontario if they are going to do that they still have to show proof of the original speed. they don't have to show it to you on the road, but they do have to show it in their writing if they want to charge you with it later on.

if he had brought up the number in court, a lawyer could argue there is no evidence of a speeding violation. just the citation.

why would he mail you a ticket? was he driving an unmarked or his daily driver?

    I don't like most cops...

    some are nice.

I have had bad experiences... my friends, who are about as whitebread as you can be, straight A students, never did ANYTHING wrong in thier lives have been detained/cuffed and tossed into a ditch on a cold night for about 4hrs all because someone said "Sir" (by nervous accident)

you should see the stuff on youtube about some of the local cops... they said it themselves... they can make up what they want and send you away for a long time.

and of course you can have the opposite happen... where a crime is commited and the cop looks the other way.

Speaking as a Cop (20+ years), I sincerely hope they got a lawyer and sued for harassment and unlawful detainment.
Sounds like those young men were being polite and using the manners they were raise to use.
Sorry it happened to your friends.

it was a lady cop... not that justifies anything

and I looked for some of the videos, can't find them atm.

but they were on the news for weeks.

my personal experience, cop runs a red w/o lights or siren to get me for window tint. On one of the most bustling intersections that I frequent. Not to mention he ran my plates/tags/registration for 45mins.
I missed my religious services (I think that was his goal)

btw, when I passed him he was at the window of another "offender" out of his car.

    -----------------

the other stories that I know are from a reformed convict. He often mentioned the cops and their phonebook beat downs...

ever since the laws changed here in my area incidents of wh***ing off of traffic violations have all but ceased. I only see one or two speed traps now, when I would see about 8 or so. Not to mention that there were layoffs and suspensions. I still want to have a recording device in the car for safety, (I'll put a sticker on my visor or something... annoucing it for legality)

the only trap I see is a DWI enforcement area, and thats just about only friday and saturday nights.

and no, I am not about to argue that one ticket. Nor or my friends about thier treatment.

You make yourself a target. Its not fun.

a coworker gets pulled over so many times its not practical for him to drive. Its just harassment. If he contests anything they'll try and pin something on him. (last time it was car theft).

Lot's of it too is how it is documented. Did the officer document that you were going 90 in a 55? If so it's your word vs his and in that case you would probably lose.

I'm also curious why he would mail you the ticket.
