2003 Mustang....Cobra!

A few nights ago I was out cruising with my buddy Dave. We drive almost identical GXP's, save for his is black and I have a few additional piping upgrades. We were coming back from one of the local hang-outs (which was completely deserted on Sunday night) when I noticed a grey Mustang Cobra Vert with aftermarket exhaust on the road (which was devoid of traffic at 1am). Personally, I have always been intimidated by these cars, so I wasn't expecting anything to happen. I pull up alongside him going about 45 and the driver and his girlfriend both look over at me. I hear the car rev, and naturally, I shake my head no and laugh. I thought that was the end of that.

He starts honking. I figure, "ah what the hell, might as well give it a shot". I expect to get my ass handed to me. After the third honk, we take off. He gets the jump on me, but by the time I hit third gear I had pulled ahead of him, and by 4th he was several car lengths back and dropping. I couldn't believe my eyes. We came up to a stoplight, I gave him the thumbs up, and he turned off.

I snapped a picture of the car a few seconds after the race, once we had slowed down. Then the next day at the mall, I stumbled across the same Cobra sitting in the parking lot. I took a few more pictures and read the VIN to make sure what year the car was.

It was one helluva race, and I'm still amazed I won. Afterwards, Dave informed me he had raced and beaten a Vert Cobra a few weeks prior, so it apparently wasn't a fluke. Now I'm curious to see how the Sol stacks up against the Coup. Of course, from a dig, the Cobra probably wouldve eaten me alive, but from a roll it was a different story.

well, ur almost 1000lbs lighter dude. Was it just exhaust? I raced a friend who had exhaust, pully, intake, and computer. I was in his 300whp wrx. I got murdered, lol. The same wrx vs the cobra when it was stock, was neck and neck.

03/04's are yeah.....his solstice isn't stock. Not that I know how they respond to mods, lol.

Im not callin BS, just saying it might have been a ****ty driver or he was in the wrong gear. Weight does play a factor, but I dont know.... the words "several car lengths" has me wondering.

It must be a lot because 130 HP is nothing to sneeze at. With a few Bolt ons and a good tune those Terminators can see 500+ HP easily.

The guy might have n00bed as George said. But dude.....almost 1000lbs weight difference. Stock 03 cobras run low 13's yes?

It was also a convertible, and add +1 passenger... so probably every bit of 1000 lbs. And spread that 130 horsepower advantage over that thousand pounds... not a stretch.
