God, it's getting really bad around here.

You have to remember, in Utah, there are 4 seasons: Unberable cold, construction, uberable hot, and construction. Lane's are ending short everywhere around here nowadays.

It's getting to the point where if I have to be anywhere in the time period of about 5:30-6:30, I'll either leave really early, or show up late.

What happens at this intersection is that when the lights turn green the two inside lanes go but the right turn lanes have a red arrow for about two minutes. So what happens is the inside lanes empty out but the right turn lanes back up for about 50 metres and when you turn right there is a concrete crash barrier on the left so there is only room for two cars to turn right at any time.

So there I am doing the right thing waiting for the arrow to turn green when down the inside this guy comes slowly ( I saw him coming in the side mirror), trying to time it so that he can jump the arrow.

But he mis-times it and the two cars in front of me are into the corner before he gets there so that leaves him in no-mans land trying to "cut in" on me. I am like "WTF" and "NO WAY JOSE" and dont let him in.

Then of course he's down with his window on his horn, giving me the finger.

Again I am WTF he pulls up next to me down the road so I am down with my window and tell him EXACTLY what I think of him.

As he starts to answer back I am up with the window (electric windows are great eh!!) and OFF in the traffic.

You know I just don't get it.

Some people just think that A/ They are far to important to be delayed for five minutes B/ They are exempt from the road rules and C/ Have no manners whatsoever.

Well to all those people all I can say is **** OFF and try it somewhere else.
Im gonna have to go with C, I find that people who drive like that are like that with everything else in their life. They just flat out suck as people.

And yet, they always seem to be able to get all the money they could ever want... And yet I'm stuck with an unregistered cougar sitting in the garage, and $500 in the hole at my bank...

I think that 'somewhere else' is Melbourne mate. If you thought Sydney was bad, drivers in Melbourne are the most arrogant. Every fricken traffic light is a drag race, and heaps of ppl try to cut in! There was one part of Melbourne which was notorious for ppl cutting in to turn. Hoddle St pretty much connects the city to the eastern freeway. The entrance is a 2 lane turning lane which is part of the 4 lane hoddle st. Now, ppl know to stay in those 2 lanes before they turn into the turning lanes because there are so many cars going onto the freeway. But, there used to be alot of ppl in the other 2 lanes who would try and merge across to beat the traffic! Well, the local council decided to actually do something! Now there's a concrete barrier at that 'last minute' section and ppl can't do sh!t hahaha.

Basically, i'm a curtious driver. If you've been waiting patiently and not cutting in and out of traffic, i'll let u in. If u've been an arsehole and an arrogant ****, then you can sit a wait. If you don't like it...

I'm flat out embarrassed at the aggressive tactics my coworkers use while driving (I work at a large company, there are 2500+ employees at this site). They are easily the worst in New Hampshire.

Red lights are usually the cause. If I stop for a red light, I am sometimes honked at if I don't execute right-on-red immediately. In more extreme cases, people will drive around me so they can cut off the traffic that has the green. I once witnessed a suit-and-tie idiot in his Acura cut around people and run red lights twice, so I kept him squarely behind me, accelerating when he tried to pass (single lane roads with double yellow) and slowing down when he couldn't. Unsurprisingly he was behind me all the way into work.

I expect this type of stuff when I'm in Boston ... but not up here in the sticks!

Cool Re: "CUTTING IN" is it an Aussie thing ????

The other thing that I have done in the past when driving on a two lane expressway and looking for something amusing to do is the following.

I wait for the inevitable "ricer" to appear weaving in and out of the traffic.

What I do is leave a gap between me and the car on the inside lane, sort of leaving the gate open for him. He comes up behind me goes to the inside lane and then and only then - I SHUT THE GATE !!!

IT'S SO FUNNY the ricers are all over their lane looking daggers at me waving their hands giving me the fingers but STUFF THEM just let them sit there for a couple of K's. Open the gate a little, just tempting them, and then shut it again. Jeez it's good fun. Once the novelty wears off I then let them go and they roar off down the road.

TRES AMUSEMENT!!!

Re: "CUTTING IN" is it an Aussie thing ????

I live in a city of like 60k so I don't face this everyday, but driving around various states I've already developed pet peves. For instance: 3 lane highway. Sign says "Left Lane Closed Ahead 1000ft" People just flat out ignore those signs and zip on by in that lane, cause obviously they're more important to merge and keep with the flow of traffic. So you're stuck with a bunch of cars trying to get out of the closed lane right at the last minute, bunching up the flow of traffic behind them. Why oh why? Needless to say, I don't let them in. -_-

But I've seen it and I practice it, if I see someone honestly trying to get in, using blinker and junk, they get in. Just wish more people would use their head.

that happened last time i was in illinois, and no later than seeing the sign the trucker in front of me moved over to hog both lanes and cut people off from scooting on down to merge (this was in stop and go traffic, so its not like its not safe, but it was smart thinking of the trucker). Boy, were the people trying to use that lane PISSED

lol Nashua is not the sticks. I'd like to know how many people working at your company either live in MA or once lived there and moved north (much like you).
When you truly go north to the real sticks of NH, you'll see it's nothing like that.
Southern NH is a cesspool of MA bad driving transplants.
