Re: "CUTTING IN" is it an Aussie thing ????
God, it's getting really bad around here.
You have to remember, in Utah, there are 4 seasons: Unberable cold, construction, uberable hot, and construction. Lane's are ending short everywhere around here nowadays. It's getting to the point where if I have to be anywhere in the time period of about 5:30-6:30, I'll either leave really early, or show up late.

And yet, they always seem to be able to get all the money they could ever want... And yet I'm stuck with an unregistered cougar sitting in the garage, and $500 in the hole at my bank...

Basically, i'm a curtious driver. If you've been waiting patiently and not cutting in and out of traffic, i'll let u in. If u've been an arsehole and an arrogant ****, then you can sit a wait. If you don't like it... ![]()

Re: "CUTTING IN" is it an Aussie thing ????
first off ... people actually use blinkers in Australia?

Red lights are usually the cause. If I stop for a red light, I am sometimes honked at if I don't execute right-on-red immediately. In more extreme cases, people will drive around me so they can cut off the traffic that has the green. I once witnessed a suit-and-tie idiot in his Acura cut around people and run red lights twice, so I kept him squarely behind me, accelerating when he tried to pass (single lane roads with double yellow) and slowing down when he couldn't. Unsurprisingly he was behind me all the way into work. I expect this type of stuff when I'm in Boston ... but not up here in the sticks!

The other thing that I have done in the past when driving on a two lane expressway and looking for something amusing to do is the following.
I wait for the inevitable "ricer" to appear weaving in and out of the traffic. ![]() What I do is leave a gap between me and the car on the inside lane, sort of leaving the gate open for him. He comes up behind me goes to the inside lane and then and only then - I SHUT THE GATE !!! ![]() IT'S SO FUNNY the ricers are all over their lane looking daggers at me waving their hands giving me the fingers but STUFF THEM just let them sit there for a couple of K's. Open the gate a little, just tempting them, and then shut it again. Jeez it's good fun. Once the novelty wears off I then let them go and they roar off down the road. ![]() TRES AMUSEMENT!!! |

Re: "CUTTING IN" is it an Aussie thing ????
I live in a city of like 60k so I don't face this everyday, but driving around various states I've already developed pet peves. For instance: 3 lane highway. Sign says "Left Lane Closed Ahead 1000ft" People just flat out ignore those signs and zip on by in that lane, cause obviously they're more important to merge and keep with the flow of traffic. So you're stuck with a bunch of cars trying to get out of the closed lane right at the last minute, bunching up the flow of traffic behind them. Why oh why? Needless to say, I don't let them in. -_-
But I've seen it and I practice it, if I see someone honestly trying to get in, using blinker and junk, they get in. Just wish more people would use their head.

When you truly go north to the real sticks of NH, you'll see it's nothing like that. Southern NH is a cesspool of MA bad driving transplants.
