    2000 cougar vs 2003 Tiburon GT V6

hello, i finally got the chance to race my friends V6 MTX cougar. He only has intake, (I have IHE and lightened flywheel) so we knew what was going to happen, so i let him launch, and i went when he took off. So he got about 2 cars ahead, i caught up to his rear fender by the end of second, by the end of my third he was about 1 car back, and 4th he was 4-6 lengths back.
I was very impressed how it kept up in 1-3 gears, and he let me drive it, the transmission shifts so smooth! although the throws were long, especially into 5th. I really want him to get H/E too and see what happens!

I was very close to buying a tibby new in 06. They are poooooop slow.
Not worth it at all to get the "Hot Rod' model, or however they labeled it (gt, i think?)

Anyways. I was much much more impressed with the 4cyl. The price, insurance, Gas mileage. Power felt the same. And they look the same. For the difference in price you could probably get a nice turbo kit for the 4cyl and have a way better set up than that v6 thing.

But yah, tibbs = Slow. In fact I will put money on that my olds minivan would smoke a tibb. Not just beat, but smoke.

A white tibby looks nice though and you cant beat the interior, very sporty

are you sure the V6 you drove had all 6 plug wires hooked up? The I4 runs like mid 16.. with a manual, and the 6 runs mid 15 with a manual, stock. True, though the 4 cylinder is based off the 4G63, and can take quite a bit of boost.

Yeah thoes tibbys are nice thats for sure, funny I was just talking about them with this sales dude for hyiandi.. he was saying that he would beat my cougar, stock for stock I would say drivers race with the tibby having the upper hand.

Oh and as for the race, didn't happen, after me and my brother both put money on the cougar he chickened out..then I told him my mods lol.

Anyways I always liked the new tibbys, I hear they respond to modification pretty good too.
