Just got my car scanned by Rastaman today...thx dude! Got a P1120 e code "throttle position sensor a out of range / low. (ratch to low)...Any ideas what is wrong? We also cleaned the IMRC with compressed air and electrical cleaner, and reset the CEL. came on shortly after. Heeeeelp please.

    Thanks

Your TP sensor is fouling, replace it. Your TP sensor has nothing to do with your IMRC....technically speaking. I know...as someone is sure to point this out...the IMRC gets the signal to open through the PCM, which reads the TP sensor at WOT. However, your TP sensor doesn't have anything to do with the IMRC in THIS case.

Replace your TP sensor. You can R&R it, because sometimes it gets "stuck"...but I really don't think that applies to our cars. Either way, your TP sensor is failing....it is cheap and easy enough to replace.

It is on the throttle body, very easy to swap. Look on the side of the TB facing the front of the car, where the butterfly rod goes through. You will see the sensor bolted to the TB.

Quick followup..I ordered a TPS sensor, but have not installed it yet, however have not had a problem with the car for a week or so...the CEL is obviously still on, but could this be something that might have corrected itself? Or can the computer bypass the sensor if it sees a continous problem?

The funny thing is it use to happen daily....but now nothing...

    ANY IDEAS?

    Thanks
