    Radio not coming on

Ok I have a kenwood stereo and its been working fine.. its only like a month old. The last couple of days it wasn't showing the names of songs or anything on the screen like it usually does when I put my ipod on hands free.. then today my ipod cord isn't working at all.. so I turned off my car and took off the face plate and put it back on don't ask why I thought that would do any good but when I turned the car back on the stereo wouldn't come back on.. any ideas? Blown fuse or something?

    Re: Radio not coming on

removing the face plate was actually a smart thing. i have had to do that on my stock radio occasionally.
there are springy connectors that can oxidize. take the face plate off and gently pull on any springy contacts and clean the contacts. same with contacts on radio.
it is good that things changed when you took it off. it may be (part of) the problem. easy to get it out of the way.

edit: um..its only a month old so likely oxidation not the problem but do it all anyway to insure it is not the problem. faceplates can be flaky.

you might get more spot on help in audio and electrical section.

Ok is anything else on the same fuse as the radio? Can't check anything right now because its dark and about to storm but if there's anything else on the same fuse then I can jus check that when I drive home and see if whatever else there is works.

    Re: Radio not coming on

i just looked at 99 manual. it says radio has its own fuse.
check online manual for you year 99. beware the fuse info in the manuals on this site are only for the "newer" style under hood fuse boxes, though i think the radio fuse is in the passenger compartment. there is info for old under hood fuse box...say if you need.

Ok thanks for the help. I will check everything in the morning.. gona hate having to pull the deck out to check the wiring harness if its not a blown fuse but will do if I have to.. before I put this stereo in the screen on the old stock stereo didn't work I just figured it was the stereo itself cuz when I put the new one in everything was working fine.. don't know if maybe there was a prob in the first place and its jus now showing up on the new stereo
