    Electrical issue (big surprise)

Since I'm selling the car, I had my husband take out the two amps and the subwoofer on Saturday. He taped around the power wires so they wouldn't touch. After that, every time I turn on the car everything resets. The tripometer reset and the gauges go up and then back down. I also noticed that the dome light doesn't work anymore or the reading lights.

This morning when I turned the car on, the gauges reset but the tripometer didn't. What could this possibly be?

The original set up was the speaker wires go through the one amp, so when we disconnected the amp, the speakers didn't work. Once my brother fixes the stereo connections on Tuesday, do you think it will be fixed?
You may think this is crazy, but it's a Cougar thing maybe.

Did he pull the fuses for the power wires?

No. He knows to do it, but we were in a hurry, so he never did it. I had a feeling it may be that!

Well, it's an easy way to verify that's not the issue - my guess is something is shorting. That's what I did when I removed the sub from the Impala before selling the car - I just removed the fuse. I still have it, actually.
