    Need help with wheel bearings

Well, My front driver side wheel is about to fall off and its making a HORRIBLE metal on metal screeching sound. I bought a new wheel bearing, but im going to have to get it pressed in. It was $35 and it will be another 20 or so to get in put in, but someone told me that I may need to replace the whole assembly because its so bad. Is the wheel hub assembly what I need?

Just the bearing should take care of everything. Just be sire the person pressing it in knows what they are doing; it's easy to screw up.

Hub is pressed into the knuckle. It all comes off as one piece. So you want to push the axle out, set it aside and remove the knuckle as a whole.

Am i going to need to get the bearings pressed in? Or could I just get a whole new hub assembly?

There are TWO pressings - the hub is pressed into the bearing, and the hub/bearing is pressed into the knuckle.

You CAN buy a whole new assembly. It costs kind of a lot, but it REALLY simplifies everything.

Last I saw it was $150 for a new knuckle. Not sure if that came with the hub assembly.

Pulling the hub out requires you to remove the rotor/caliper/caliper bracket, remove the lower A arm (unbolt the ball joint or remove the A-arm from the subframe and then bang it off which can be easier), remove the strut from the hub, remove the tie rod from the hub, remove the ABS sensor if equipped from the hub, push the axle out, etc. It isn't exactly easy. lol

On one car I fixed up I was able to pick up a hub from the junk yard for $30 which was in good shape with a good bearing in it. That worked great for me.
