Is my engine ruined?

Ok so today i was changing the oil on my car and right after i drained out the oil and had a new filter on but hadnt put oil in, my friend thought hed be smart and help me look into an exhaust leak i have, so he started it before i had oil put back in, before i even really noticed it, my belt stopped moving but my engine didnt stop i yelled to shut it off, it wasnt revved or anything, it was just started and idled for about 15-20 seconds before it was shut off, it still seems like its running ok, but might be running kinda slow cause my 0-60 was like 12 seconds and i thought that was kinda slow cause its about 85 degrees here but when its cold it runs about 8-9 seconds, someone plz help!

bout 20secs with out oil should be fine.

Just kidding - it sounds like you're fine. Running an engine without oil isn't good, but it sounds like it's not "ruined" - had your engine seized up, then refer to the first line. But otherwise, I wouldn't worry. Don't live by my words though...wait until an actual mechanic answers before you buy your beer for the night.

ya i agree with above, if you engine was ruined to would be hearing some weird things going on in the engine

dont jump the gun, plenty of people have done that... in fact, I remember reading about someone who owned a cougar, was doing an oil change, left the keys in his pocket and ended up tapping the remote start while he was draining the oil. Car ran for about half a minute before he could scramble up to disable the remote start.

Still rans great after that too.

-_- I recently spun a rod on my car....not fun. But yeah, like said above you'd prolly be hearing some tapping/funny noises coming from the car.

I doubt that it'd help THAT much, but winter your car theroetically runs better since the air is colder. Which you already seem to know.

You have the heaviest Cougar with the heaviest wheels . . . and its an automatic. A twelve-second 0-60 time doesn't sound very far off to me.
