Re: need help fast n the middle of doing alternator replacement

I haven't seen the belt tensioner on an 02, but I assume they are similiar to a 99, just in a different location. I use a long ratchet. There is a square hole in it to put the ratchet in...you just need some good leverage on it to get it to budge, then you can get the belt off. Autozone or somewhere like that will also sell or rent a tool set made for it if you don't have a long ratchet.

The nut on the bottom of the tie rod end should loosen just like a normal nut would. Be sure there isn't a cotter pin on it or anything.

on the right u cna see the tensioner it is basically right up again the fender. you cant get a rachet in there. I have a curved wrench I tried but no luck just couldnt get it to budge. this not real hard to do i'm gonna get pissed if i have to take to mechanic to get reemed for another 200 cause of a tensioner. lmao

You can get a ratchet in there, or go get the tool from Autozone.

Mine sits right by the frame rail on a 99 as well. I'll grab a pic for you.

A ratchet won't fit between the pulley and the fenderwell. You need a 3/8 breaker bar.

No; I need one on my car as well. Too tight for a ratchet!
