Re: battery light
Actually there is a voltage sensing fuse, though it's not a fusible link. If that fuse is bad, your alternator won't put out any current at all. I suggest the original poster check that, but it's probably not the problem. Unfortunately I can't tell you which fuse it is.

Re: battery light
yeah, remans are definate hit and miss.
my second and third alts were both remans and both got fried in short order. i got the "gold" alt from Autozone (bit more pricey but it has lifetime warranty and is not a reman) and ive been good since. Also, it is a great idea to replace both alt and battery at the same. If the battery was on its last leg when you replace the alternator, it can actually kill the alternator.

Re: battery light
someone confirm that for me... but ive heard from several people that dying battery can kill a new alt. (including the guy at Autozone)

![]() Seriously, if the alternator is undercharging the battery, then the battery could run dangerously low, which damages them. So I can believe it, if you let the alternator get to the point where it's not charging the battery at all. If you replace it while it's just losing voltage at 5500 RPMs, I would think the battery is probably fine, unless you normally drive at 5500 RPMs.

Re: battery light
start with a load test and work from there, could be a fuse or a bad ground.

Re: battery light
[Rant]I am sorry but i do not trust auto zone. I bought a TPS sensor from them,it was incorrect so i took it back. The man behind the counter started to check Honda Oldsmobile and Linclon then started to check 3.8 v6's and 4.6 v8's. I politely said sir its a 2.5 Mazda v6 to which he responded Ford is known to do weird things. I thought to myself yeeeeah right like using a TPS sensor from a 1.9 honda
.I then came to my senses and went to Murrays and was in and out within 5 minutes with the correct part. [/Rant]I am having a similar problem to this i notice while i am driving down the road that the battery dummy light flashes at me. Could this be a bad coil in the coil pack? It does not flash to the base lines of the music i am listening to either i do have a system 500watt amp pushing an 800 watt boss sub and simulated HID's.

Re: battery light
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I went up to autozone today and tested it with their volt meter and it read 12 and didnt seem to be charging. i think first i will go ahead and get new battery jsut in case its that simple. The alt i got has lifetime warranty. I probably will be taking it to the shop this week regardless seeing I have an oil leak somewhere and cant seem to pin point where its coming from.

![]() not sure why you would think the coil pack would cause the battery light to flash. I mean at least I havent heard of that so i could be wrong. If ur battery light is flickering I would say to be prepared to replace an alt or battery.
