Electrical Low Beam/High Beam problem

Hey there

I am having a problem with my Low beams and High beams not working properly.

The Low beams come on when i start the car and all, but the fuse consistently blows when driving for the LOW BEAM/HIGH BEAM fuse in the Driver side fuse panel inside the car. it is 7.5A. (This is the fuse so when you turn the headlight switch it applies more voltage to the daytime lights for better visual night driving... for some who may not know.) My Low beams are always on but I would like it to work properly with the switch for brighter lights.

Problem started when: I put in one of those Licence plate readers which scroll a message, the day I put that in the fuse blew. So i completely removed the licence plate, same problem still occurs... no major wiring changes were done, was just a splice and crimp for power. but thats out of the way now.

I have replaced the relays in the Power Distribution box under the hood as well, and that also did not resolve the problem.

The fog lights are fine and working

If I put a fuse in, the lights will work with the switch when the cars off and the high beams on and off without a problem, i turn the car on sometimes that blows the fuse.. or i'll be driving and it will blow... it's really random.. and annoying...

Also when I put the highbeams on the low beams are on as well, is that normal?

Thanks for any help.

yeah - when the highbeams come on - the lows stay on (but fogs will go off if already on).

where did you wire the license plate into? was that into the lowbeam power? or somewhere else?

Re: Electrical Low Beam/High Beam problem

Licence plate reader was wired to the back right taillights brake light, it is illegal to have it on all the time here.. it was wired on a completely different circuit.
