"Random Multiple Misfires"
Not on my car - on my buddy's Mazda MPV (which also happens to be a Duratec 25).
All of a sudden it started running really rough; shaking at idle, way down on power. CEL code was a 1512 or something like that - "Random Multiple Misfires". I suspect the coil pack; it has 81,000 miles on it. I replaced the plugs a few weeks ago, and it's been perfect ever since, until now. I figure if it was a wire or wire(s), it would be for a specific cylinder instead of "random multiple" misfires. I'm going to check the resistance on the coil pack tomorrow after work, if I can find the info on how to do that. If anyone else has any practical advice, let's hear it! Thanks.

Re: "Random Multiple Misfires"
Mine was misfiring big time with no cel at all.Had a new coil pack and plugs at the time so I replaced the plug wires and never misfired again.
The coil packs I've replaced on Fords till now were all bulging from inner corrosion or had a crack in them. |

Re: "Random Multiple Misfires"
Bad injector maybe... Time to take apart a fuel rail and manually clean each injector using carb cleaner
Here is the link: VW PASSAT B5 - ???????? ???????? ?????? ?????? Everything is in Russian but take a look at the pic, where he connects a carb cleaner to the injector and manually closes the circuit connected to the battery

Re: "Random Multiple Misfires"
Well, according to the Internet, a Mazda CEL of 1512 is IMRC Stuck Closed (maybe Bank 1 Stuck Closed).
Of course, this thread was the fourth hit on my results page, so... ![]()
