Tap tap tap

So i was backing my car up into a spot today and my dad comes up before the car turns off and tells me that I need some oil.....Im thinking to myself no I dont I just have the oil changed like 1000 miles ago so I get out of the car and he points out that the car is making like a soft tapping noise coming from what the sounds like the UIM near the front of the car like inbetween the 2 cylinders on the right. Its not really loud and i never really noticed it because I have always have clutch chatter....I had my dad sit inside and push the clutch in and it continued to have the noise. I checked the oil and it is sitting at max. I am not throwing any codes....I had 4 codes 2 weeks ago. 3 were related to O2 sensors which I just fixed with the MIL eliminators and 1 was due to a camshaft sensore which when I reset the car never came back.

I have been reading up and found that our cars have noisy lifters???
or that it could have spun a bearing????

What would you all suggest to try and narrow down what the problem could be....

I am really hoping that it is nothing major because I am supposed so shell out about $2,000 monday for a ninja 500R plus another $1,000 in tax gear and mods.

any new is good news I guess other then the fact that I have to get saftey and emissions done this week too.

Re: Tap tap tap

i would check to make sure a sparkplug didnt come loose. other than that the lifters dont make any noise, unless it is a rod bouncing around on the crank

Re: Tap tap tap

Assuming you have the V6, it sounds like HLAs to me - just a quick tap tap tap at idle? If so, it's nothing to worry about. They're not really supposed to do that, but most of them do make that noise, and it's not damaging anything.

Re: Tap tap tap

yeah I pulled the plugs and they looked good and the noise you have to be listening for it on top of the engine bay or less you would never know it was there. I have not noticed any powerloss or anything abnormal with the car so i'll just see how it goes

Re: Tap tap tap

Did your oil light come on? If so, that's a good tell tale sign that you may have a spun bearing.
