Re: RPMS Climb - Car Doesnt Accelerate ???
i would guess its a bad trans. I was driving my friends maxima and its trans was bad and thats exactly what it would do. Sometimes it would work fine and other times id hit the gas and it would be like i was in neutral. it was a very annoying long 8 mile drive in that car haha.

thanks.... but its not realy like that, it doesnt just go into neutral, its definently in a gear, and i know what a tranny slippin, or going bad feels like, and this aint it. im guessing its got something to do with the fuel pump?not to sure though, can a fuel pump going bad let only a limited amount of fuel through?for some reason it always runs better when i first start it(cooler i guess).help!!

SpeedStyle have you checked the IMRC?

Re: RPMS Climb - Car Doesnt Accelerate ???
Actually - I have not quite equal but very close sympoms. I'd say say that RPM don't go up when a push the gas pedal. This is for good trans - 'cause trans seems to be bad when RPM rise, but car doesn't go. But I have a CEL with lean conditions (both banks - can't find a leak or smth like that).
And IMRC is not stucked opened - I have checked it - It works when I stomp the pedal on N trans pos. For the threadstarter - you do have to check the IMRC.

Re: RPMS Climb - Car Doesnt Accelerate ???
yes, ive checked the imrc and it always opens, but today when i was driving, i got on it and it climbed quickly for a second then its like it makes a deeper moan in the engine and the rpms almost come to a hault, and car doesnt continue to perform the same at all(very weak)once again im pretty sure its not the tranny

Re: RPMS Climb - Car Doesnt Accelerate ???
dude, your tranny hates you. take it easy on her and maybe she'll last you a bit longer?
...mine does that every now and then, i just back off as soon as it happens, but the first time was scary as hell. might want to look into getting a tranny flush if you're due for one and start saving up for a rebuild. EDIT: and you also might want to invest in a tranny cooler as well.
