Re: HELP!! tie rod problem

I think one side of the car is reverse-threaded. You can look at the thread and tell.

Re: HELP!! tie rod problem

alright everything got all put together a few days ago.

Driving up and down the driveway (pretty long) I noticed a somewhat wierd noise coming from the front end when braking or releasing the brakes to move forward (or backward for that matter).

Sounds somewhat like taking an empy paint rattle spray can and flipping it upside down and back again fast so that you can hear the ball inside bounce a few times. (but a little louder along with some creaks)

The car seems to drive and turn with no problem...just the noise when braking, which is alarming enough for me to not want to drive it.

I need to put it on the jack stands and inspect the fronts a little more in-depth yet but my floor jack is shot.
so for the time beeing, just thought i'd see if anyone has encounter a similar problem. I searched some but didn't find anything that really fit the description as what i'm experiencing.

Re: HELP!! tie rod problem

Unfortunately that could be a couple things - loose caliper and sway bar endlink are the first two that cross my mind, but there are plenty more. You just have to jack it up and start checking stuff.

Re: HELP!! tie rod problem

I'd start with double checking all the bolts to make sure everything is tight. After that, it's hard to say.
