MTX shifting issue

I have checked the brake fluid level, but...

When I go into any gear sometimes I have to pull (with a little muscle) to get into gear. It never grinds, but it's just simply resistant. Sometimes, it's not really a problem and it goes in just fine with less effort. Any suggestions?

Re: MTX shifting issue

mine does that..when it's cold and sometimes when selecting first. I put it down to wear, it has 165k on it. Now rounding up the bits for a new transmission setup before it finally goes south....G.

Re: MTX shifting issue

Mine used to do that in extreme cold, but changing to a synthetic transmission fluid solved it for me. So if you haven't already done that, try that. But I wasn't having a problem in temperatures like we have now - it would only be a problem on those mornings where it was 20 degrees out or something.

Also, if the transmission was filled with the original fluid but without the friction modifier, that might cause the same thing. However, the new recommendation is the Ford synthetic without the modifier. (I have half a bottle of friction modifier that is now useless... )

Re: MTX shifting issue

Hm. It has 3 quarts of the "Ford honey" in it, and the transmission was brand new.. Should I use a different fluid?

No, that's the recommended fluid. I figured you'd have that in there, but it was worth mentioning anyway.

Re: MTX shifting issue

run synthetic ATF in the turbo and the csvt and never a issue. Something is binding up though for sure. Did it due that with the previous trans and has it been consistent since day one with this new trans?
