Codes Galore

P1744, P0402, & P1401

If anyone knows where I could start before I seek out a diagnostic test I would love to hear your ideas.

A search ... either here or on Google would be a good first start

I've determined that codes P0402 & P1401 are likely related to a problem with the DPFE sensor, so I'll try replacing that soon.

I want to replace the TCC solenoid in an attempt to remedy the P1744 code before I go see a transmission specialist. Does anyone know how to do this? I cannot find instructions specific to the CD4E.

Re: Codes Galore

P1744Torque Converter Clutch System Stuck in Off Position.

doesn't sound good at all ... don't know anything about the atx so I can say what it means

P0402EGR Flow Excessive at Idle.

P1401Differential Pressure Feedback Electronic Sensor circuit High Voltage.

time for a new dpfe sensor.

I'm replacing the DPFE sensor tomorrow.

Does anyone know how to replace the TCC solenoid?

Re: Codes Galore

Read this thread from CEG:

new 98 contour owner - CEG Forums

It's a bit of mumbo-jumbo but maybe it can be made sense of. Try to obtain a Ford CD repair manual. Contact todras on CEG. Most everything is the same between the two vehicles...
