Re: Help!!!!!

Hang on, hang on...do you have the 2.5L? You never did answer that question.

If it is the V6, a lag in acceleration around 3000 RPMs may be related to the IMRC. The IMRC usually opens around 3400 RPMs or so, but if it doesn't open the engine will choke. Furthermore, they frequently fail when they get hot (from the heat of the engine) but work fine when they are cool. It's pretty easy to check: drive around, get the engine hot, then park the car, open the hood, then rev up the engine and see if the secondaries open (watch the linkage under the throttle body).

I think they run $200 or so from Ford.

I'm not entirely convinced that's the problem, because even with a closed IMRC it'll usually still run fine up to 4000-4500 RPMs before it chokes. But it's close enough that it's worth checking.

no, I'm pretty convinced with that diagnosis... and shocked it wasnt mentioned earlier.

now not all the times do the IMRCs just go out or fail. mine in particular will 'flutter' around 3200, and yes it causes a fair amount of lag. I actually have a dyno plot to prove its behavor.... you can search for it, I'm too lazy too.

you can verify the IMRC by zip tying it open and try running it. its going to drive like ass below 3k, but you should find out if thats the problem.

Re: Help!!!!!

Zip tieing it will kill your MPG fyi... The IMRC is the body under neath that useless cover on the front of your engine block. Follow the cord to a bar arm under neath where the air intake meets up with the UIM. at 3-4k it should move and open your secondaries. Which if you didnt know are in your LIM.
