Re: Slow Take Off
Could even be as simple as a dirty air filter...My car was acting up in a highly similar way until a few days after I cleaned it, and now it feels good.

Re: Slow Take Off
Check to see if it's working.

Re: Slow Take Off
I am VERY tired of re-re-re-re-re-reposting this...I'm going to write a separate sticky thread we can just link to from here on. B3NN3TT, you in?
![]() 1. Start the car, open the hood. 2. Rev it up and watch under the throttle body - you should see the linkages moving as you around 3400 RPMs (the exact RPM can change but if you hit 4000 RPMs by then it should have opened). 3. If they work when the car is cool, try it when it's hot - frequently the IMRCs stop working only after they get warm. 4. If you're having an intermittent problem and it seems to work while standing still both cool and warm, disconnect the IMRC connector (under the 2.5L Duratec plastic cover) and drive around and see if that matches the problem you are having.

Re: Slow Take Off
There is a "bump" in the powerband when the IMRC actuates; you'll feel a little pulse as you are accelerating, while the intake gets a fresh grip. It's part of the Duratec experience. Take a quick search for "dyno sheets" for Duratec-equipped cars, and it's obvious when looking at the line.

Re: Slow Take Off
![]() This is a typical 2.5L dyno plot. There is a visible "dip" in the line between 3.0 and 3.5, especially evident in the torque curve. You can't do anything about it. The intake is restricted at low RPMs to increase low-end torque. It runs out of breath, and then the restriction is snapped away at between 3.0 and 3.5, and there is a HUGE rush of air that takes a split-second to recover from. It's the way the engine is designed. It's the Duratec 2.5, ladies and gentlemen... If you don't like it, then an oval-port 3-liter is the only option.
